In continuation of my letter No.1100 of the 17th ultimo, I am directed to inform you that the Government of the Straits Settlements grants no exemption from the payment of rates and taxes to Military Officers who occupy rateable tenements.
The Governor is, however, prepared to lay the matter before the Secretary of State for the Colonies, should the General Officer Commanding desire His Excellency to do so.
